First, we're happy to announce that the team has identified and fixed the issue with the YouTube conduit; you can now find and add videos from YouTube to your library and posts. As always, thanks for your patience!
The other news we have today is about a new addition to the Six Apart family: TypePad Micro, a new free level of TypePad that is streamlined for microblogging. We see a new form of blogging emerging that lives between the quick status updates of Twitter and Facebook and the long-form posts of "classic" blogging; TypePad Micro is designed to meet that need. You can read more about TypePad Micro in Chris Alden's post on the Everything TypePad blog.
A lot of the new capabilities we've added to TypePad this year were actually inspired by some of the best things about Vox: favoriting, member profiles, a dashboard to follow other bloggers, and easy ways to post content from other social media sites. But the things that make Vox different from TypePad are still there: Vox has always been -- and still is -- the best place for "friends and family" blogging, where you're in control over who sees what. TypePad, on the other hand, is built for the blogger who wants, no, craves, attention.
Do you have a passion or interest you want to share with people beyond your Vox neighborhood? If so, we'd love it if you tried out TypePad Micro. Maybe you've always wanted to start that obsessive blog that's just about waffle restaurants. Or want a place to share videos of your favorite band (Jonas Brothers, anyone? Anyone? ...). TypePad Micro's great for those topic-specific blogs. Take it for a spin and let us know what you think.
On the Vox front, our designers are working on some cool new themes (coming soon!). We'd also love to hear your thoughts about where we should take Vox in the coming year. What are the key things you'd like to see for Vox? If you've had a chance to use TypePad this year, what are the features there that we should bring over to Vox? And, if you're thinking big thoughts, how could we connect the Vox and TypePad communities in order to bring together bloggers and their shared passions? Your feedback is really important to us, so please leave a comment here, or shoot me a message.
And again, thanks for your patience as we found and fixed the YouTube bug!

As many of you have noticed, the YouTube Conduit is not working. I am so sorry about this; I know how frustrating it is.
The team is looking into how to get this fixed and I will update you as soon as I hear something. In the meantime, not all is lost... There is a work-around for posting videos.
When you're in the Compose Screen, just click on "embed." Ignore the fact that it says "Widget" before everything because you can definitely use this to embed videos as well. You'll just need to input the embed code from the video, enter a title (if you want) and hit OK.
It might not show up perfectly in your compose screen, but when you hit "Save," your video should appear just the way you wanted it to.
Hopefully this will allow you to keep posting videos while we figure out what's happening on our end.
As always, thanks for your patience.
Go forth and fill your libraries with media.
Seriously, thanks to everyone for being so amazing and patient. You are the reason I love Vox.
I was just told that the Amazon Conduit will be fixed by tomorrow. I will post here as soon as I get word that it's back up and running.
I know this has been frustrating and I am sorry there wasn't more I could do to make it less so. I really appreciate your patience though.
Cheers,
Bad news. As many of you have probably noticed, the Amazon Conduit was not fixed in the last week's release. Unfortunately, there was an undetected bug that is preventing the conduit from working.
We are working on this bug fix and hope to have the Conduit back up and running this week.
I will keep you posted.
Thank you for being so patient.

Call me a sheep if you will but I have decided to move over to a WordPress blog, and I can now be found on lostinfootnotes.wordpress.com. So many people I follow on Vox have moved there over the last year that I decided to go take a look, I like what I saw and decided to stay. Please stop by to say hi and update your RSS.
Mirthful
- Slowly getting back into the school groove and trying out a new study process
- The new Alexander McCall Smith novel should arrive in the next few days
- My mum has booked her flight and is coming for Thansgiving (this mean neither of us has to travel over Christmas - w00t)
- Enjoying taking yoga and pilates classes at YogaWorks, and if I manage to take 12 classes in the first 30 days I get a free t-shirt
- 3 more days till Alex is done with his current project and will be back in NYC
- Bought my first pair of arm warmers and I fear I may become addicted to them
Melancholy
- Studying the destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum is slightly depressing
- It is rough as ever getting back into the study groove
- Lost an earring during the SculptWorks class on Monday
- The uncertainty of where Alex's next project may be (fingers crossed for NYC)
By rights I should be watching the season premiere of House but since Alex is gone this week we've promised each other to wait till Friday so we can enjoy it together with a pizza and a bottle of wine (or knowing Alex a nice glass of port or knowing me a coffee). So what's a girl to watch when she is too tired to study but needs to unwind from the day in the office and the killer SculptWorks class she took? A tried and tested romcom - Serendipity.
I'd forgotten what a nice little film Serendipity is, and set in my two favorite cities New York and San Francisco. It is about a pair of potentially star crossed lovers (Jonathan and Sara, played by John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale) who meet when haggling over gloves in Bloomingdales and click. Then instead of trading numbers like normal people they write their digits on a $5 bill and a copy of 'Love in the Time of Chorea' send these talismans out into the universe. That's kinda a dumb right? I mean if you find someone you can enjoy sharing a coffee with you should grab that person with both hands and never let go. But, hey that wouldn't be much of a plot. So Jonathan and Sara move on from that perfect date and seven or so years later, when they are both on the verge of getting married, decide to resume the hunt because something is niggling them. Sara has to fly to New York to search with her best friend to search for Jonathan whilst Jonathan continues to scower second hand book shops looking for one of the most depressing books ever. There are signs being sent out by the universe that lures them to the same locations but they keep missing each other until they converge on Central Park at the very end. Love it, especially because:
- It's from a time when John Cusack's rider stated that Jeremy Piven MUST play his best friend, and it's prior to mercurygate
- Eugene Levy guest stars as funny shop assistant
- Kate Beckinsale is so young and fresh faced
- Set in the good days pre-9/11 where you didn't need ID to board internal flights (otherwise Sara would have noticed that she had her friend's wallet and ID)
Oh my I have some how ended up watching the Emmy's. Damn you quiet Sunday nights. My ramblings...
- Dr. Horrible is presenting and making sure that things move along quickly. I have a feeling if he manages to pull this off he might get the hat tick of award show gigs & be offered the Oscars
- John Hodgeman is doing the voice over but they are keeping it so low I can barely hear his comic mumbling
- Can you believe that Justin Timberlake ever dated Britney? It seems like something from an alternate universe
- Hurrah Toni Collette won for The United States of Tara but she has gone a little too Hollywood (and by that I mean thin and orange)
- Should I be watching 30 Rock? Is it really that good?
- The staged behind the scenes clips are cringe worthy. Keep having Studio 60 flashbacks
- Reality TV gets its own section? Forced to use up our DVR buffer to get through some of it faster. Alex is grumbling that the Food Network doesn't get nominated as it has the BEST reality TV shows ever
- So happy that Shohreh Aghdashloo got an award. She is an amazing talented actress. Loved her in 24
- When they said they would keep the pace up during the Emmy's they weren't joking, and they are keeping the "funny" bits to a minimum. Though they could beef up the Dr. Horrible bits
- Yikes - Jessica Lange. Kids remember to wear sunscreen
- Oh Drew Barrymore has come to the Emmy's with Mac
- By the look on her face Shirley McClain had no idea who or what The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is as the writers filed past her to collect their award
- Frak - they showed a clip from Battlestar Galactica! It's as if they are acknowledging that it is a drama or something, but they still don't give it enough nomination
So my bad but I thought this year BSG had more nominations. Apparently not. It's one nod was for directing (the excellent Michael Rymer) and they lost out to an episode of ER. ER! It makes my blood boil that the BEST TV SERIES is constantly overlooked. #FAILEMMY
